Dr. Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and founder of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Non-violence, in his June 9 lecture at the University of Puerto Rico, shared the following story as an example of “non-violence in parenting”:

“I was 16 years old and living with my parents at the institute my grandfather had founded 18 miles outside of Durban , South Africa , in the middle of the sugar plantations. We were deep in the country and had no neighbors, so my two sisters and I would always look forward to going to town to visit friends or go to the movies.

One day, my father asked me to drive him to town for an all-day conference, and I jumped at the chance. Since I was going to town, my mother gave me a list of groceries she needed and, since I had all day in town, my father ask me to take care of several pending chores, such as getting the car serviced. When I dropped my father off that morning, he said, ‘ I will meet you here at 5:00 p.m., and we will go home together.’

After hurriedly completing my chores, I went straight to the nearest movie theatre. I got so engrossed in a John Wayne double-feature that I forgot the time. It was 5:30 before I remembered. By the time I ran to the garage and got the car and hurried to where my father was waiting for me, it was almost 6:00.

He anxiously asked me, ‘ Why were you late? ‘ I was so ashamed of telling him I was watching a John Wayne western movie that I said, ‘ The car wasn’t ready, so I had to wait, not realizing that he had already called the garage. When he caught me in the lie, he said: ‘There’ s something wrong in the way I brought you up that didn’ t give you the confidence to tell me the truth. In order to figure out where I went wrong with you, I’m going to walk home 18 miles and think about it. ‘

So, dressed in his suit and dress shoes, he began to walk home in the dark on mostly unpaved, unlit roads. I couldn’t leave him, so for five-and-a-half hours I drove behind him, watching my father go through this agony for a stupid lie that I uttered. I decided then and there that I was never going to lie again.

I often think about that episode and wonder, if he had punished me the way we punish our children, whether I would have learned a lesson at all. I don’t think so. I would have suffered the punishment and gone on doing the same thing. But this single non-violent action was so powerful that it is still as if it happened yesterday. That is the power of non-violence. “

Calls to Customer Services on Airtel is 0.50paise per 3 min. WTF, we have to pay for calling on the customer service as well…. Where r v heading???

Baby mosquito came back after its 1st flying. His dad asked him – How do you feel? He replied “It was wonderful, everyone was clapping 4 me!” That’s Attitude…

Always and never are two words you should always remember never to use.

Many of the things you can count, don’t count. Many of the things you can’t count, really count.

Why is it that everyone driving faster than you is considered an idiot and everyone driving slower than you is a moron?

In the corridor of a government office, was a sign board reading, “Don’t make any noise.” Someone added the following words, “Otherwise, we might wake up”

A happy life* comes with an asterisk – *Terms & conditions apply…

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

If U R happy you will remember d person whom u love…If U R Sad u will remember d person who loves u!!!

You might not think you special but someone else does..

Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It is already tomorrow in Australia.

If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

Doing nothing is the most difficult thing to do..u urself don’t know when u are done..!!

Good frnd r dose who do not let u do wrong things but bst frnds r those who do not let u do wrong things alone..

Today is just another day and its a life with pressures all around. From travel to work… From hard deadlines to managing clients… It really sucks sometimes when things aren’t your way. We all always wish that we were cured of this daily troubles. We really wish.

The problem is somewhere else… Most of us want only to be happy. We only want happiness around us. We only want to see people happy around us. We only want to party out with those who are happy. What more could an individual ask for? And may be thats why we all want to run away from the daily pressure.

But within our hearts we know that… life is something else… somewhat different then what we thought off. After all… When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.

Almost every important decision We’ve ever had to take, were been made out of necessity and under pressure of various kinds. And we must say… Thanks to the nature of life and society, where we’re often forced to make our most important decisions under pressure.

And at the end of the day its the Pressure of the Day – Today run which makes us not sleep in the Bed for hours most of the time. So a life without pressure is not at all possible in the world of run, fast moves, cheats and flowing technology.

Even if you already have a good idea of your skills, it is worth taking the time to do a focused self-assessment.And then drawing your attention to previously unrecognised skill, Improving your job applications and interview performance and above all your confidence levels.

This is not a one-off exercise: You should undertake it regularly and test your skills. This process can serve you as the best tool of knowing where you’ve come from and how much you need to work on.

Know what you are interested in, what you are capable of before you attempt to jump into uncharted career world. So what’s new and exciting?

  1. Voice controls – Being able to control your phone via voice may not be at the top of everyone’s list of features, but as the demo on the Nexus One showed, its implementation in Android 2.1 is immense. Not only can you demand it takes you somewhere and be presented with turn-by-turn voice directions, but you can also send Tweets, SMS messages and emails just by telling your phone what you want to say. Smart, huh?
  2. Google Earth – The Google Earth app for Android will launch hand in hand with 2.1, and it does look mighty impressive from over here. It’s pretty similar, well, to Google Earth on iPhone, but there’s a new mode where you can apparently fly through the air like a bird. Nice.
  3. Phonebook – The phonebook on Android 2.1 devices will automatically pull in contacts from multiple sources including Facebook, and although it was a feature found on many customised UIs such as Motorola’s MotoBLUR, having it natively installed makes it much smoother.
  4. Email - Android 2.1 will bring with it the ability to have more than one Gmail account working from the same inbox. This means if you have two Gmail accounts, you can get them both feeding one inbox, rather than having to set up separate accounts.
  5. Weather App – The new weather app as featured on Android 2.1 will include dynamic weather updates that use GPS to give minute-by-minute accounts of the temperature, humidity and weather conditions in your current location.
  6. Interactive wallpapers – OK, so this doesn’t really improve the functionality of Android, but it will make Android devices look prettier. Animated wallpapers are onboard, and if you fancy it, you can interact with them too. For example, if you have an animated wallpaper featuring water, you can press the screen and ripples will appear.
  7. Homescreens – The vanilla version of 2.1 will now ship with five homescreens rather than the measly three on 2.0 devices. It means you can cram in more apps from the rapidly increasing selection on the Android Market, and of course shortcuts and Widgets. Although customised OS Android devices (such as the Milestone, T-Mobile Pulse, HTC Magic) did previously have more than three homescreens, they’re now there from the off!
  8. Photo gallery – A new photo gallery feature brings a new way of viewing your pics to Android. Google took some of the functionality from COOLIRIS, allowing you to seamlessly browse your photos on a 3D wall. Albums are clustered by time, date and location too, so your gallery will be perfectly ordered.
  9. App Launcher – Android’s App Launcher has been revamped so you no longer have to drag and pull to get to the app menu. Simply tap a button and everything smoothly zooms into place.
  10. Firmware upgrade - Although not directly related to the new firmware features, news is spreading that some lucky Android users will be able to upgrade existing devices to 2.1. The list so far includes the HTC Magic, Samsung Galaxy and Motorola Milestone, although we’re sure most newer Android devices will benefit from the upgrade too.

With the launch of Xperia X10 from Sony… The Company is expecting its sales to sky rocket soon. And its no harm in thinking this way as Symbian is already loosing its ground and the Android market is picking up smartly.

Soon the Blackberries and the Nokias would be old age toys. Even HTC – The Windows Giant is feeling the Android heat and is turning on new phones into the Android. We also rate this OS as the World’s fastest and the best amongst all in features and performance. Even better than the Apple OS.

With the X10, Sony Ericsson have gone from zero to hundred in a split second. While they may know their way around high-end devices, pulling off an undertaking such as the XPERIA X10 must have been a special challenge. And they have yet to get to the finish. But there start is almost perfect with a little over priced… But this has got something in it.

On 26 October 2009 the Android 2.0 (Eclair) SDK was released. Among the changes are:

On 3 December 2009 the 2.0.1 SDK was released.

On 12 January 2010 the 2.1 SDK was released.

Android 2.1’s Live Wallpapers are pulse in different ways when you touch the desktop—again, not strictly useful, but they make the phone feel as if it is alive in your hand and responding to your every action. Two new desktop widgets come in way handy: One offers one-click toggle of your most important settings (GPS, Bluetooth, screen brightness, and Wi-Fi on/off), and the other has top news stories for idle browsing when you’re on line at the grocery store. I’m not a widget gal—I trashed that big old clock first thing when I set up Android 1.5/6—but these two, along with the Google search box, are keepers.

Every single text area in Android 2.1 is speech-to-text enabled, which means you can say your text messages, emails, tweets, notes to self, whatever. It works like Google’s voice-enabled search box does. You tap the microphone button on the keyboard, speak, and then the spinner grinds away at the recording, translating it to text.

Android continues to offer the best Gmail mobile client available on any platform. The latest version of Google’s Gmail Android app supports “Undo.” When you archive, label, or delete a Gmail conversation, you get the option to Undo the action. (Great for when you accidentally tap something you didn’t mean to.)

The upgraded Gmail app also supports multiple accounts, so you can get mail from your work, personal, and moonlighting Gmail accounts in one interface.

This is Oh My Gosh stuff… from Google. And Android is here to stay On…
